28 Pass Protection Fundamentals and Drills
With John Reagan, University of Kansas Offensive Line/Run Game Coordinator This DVD looks at the fundamentals and drills for pass protection that Coach Reagan uses to prepare the Jayhawks for Big 12 competition. Reagan is dedicated to teaching basic concepts such as forcing an outside rush. Knowing the launch point and understanding timing are both part of key concepts for the Jayhawk offensive line. Reagan divides his body position fundamentals into four areas: feet, back & shoulders, knees and hands & arms. Position on the defender is a critical element in proper offensive line play. Movement is broken down into the inside power step and the kick slide to the outside. Punching the hands is a very difficult skill and is demonstrated and explained by Reagan. A unique term called "Drive the Car" is used in teaching drills for hands. A key partner of the punch is bracing the lower body. Teaching Sets using the 5-Step and 3-Step drop is the next phase of skill development. The main theme in drill work is body position. Reagan is committed to teaching body position in every drill he conducts. Ten practice drills are included in this presentation illustrating key teaching points. In all, 18 concepts and 10 drills combine to become an excellent teaching tool for quality offensive line play. Using some of the 28 tools presented can help you protect the quarterback and help your team succeed! DVD 29 minutes
